ECRI, a global independent patient safety organization, conducts unbiased medical device evaluations, renovated and expanded 120,000 SF of existing office and lab space. The project involved significant exterior work including the removal of a large exterior wall which was replaced with a curtain wall. A part of the building was demolished to provide a new main entrance and dining entrance.
The existing geothermal ground heat exchange portion of the ground-source heat pump system was reused for the renovation. Additional equipment including diesel generators, heat pumps, and internal water loop distribution piping were also reused.
The new office features an independent medical device evaluation laboratory, environmental lab, accident and forensic investigation lab, multi-use, high-tech meeting rooms, open collaboration spaces, and flexible workstations.
