Delivering new construction, expansion and modernization
for transportation facilities.
From airports and rail stations to subways, bus depots and ports, transportation facilities are undergoing extensive upgrades for technology, amenities and sustainability. Federal and local infrastructure investment is providing funding for thousands of large and small projects with the goal of creating nationwide transportation facilities that are safer and more travel friendly. Bala has the MEP, structures, technology and commissioning services within our organization to design solutions and guide public and private transportation entities to successful, and impactful, project completion.
Airport authorities and airlines have prioritized upgrading airline terminals and their associated amenities. From the smallest kiosk to the grandest elite lounge, Bala has designed MEP, structural and technology upgrades to support the architectural vision for the true modernization of air transportation.
Expansion of transit options and reliability is a priority for cities, suburban and rural environments. Additionally, many communities are requiring the incorporation of sustainability programs that include EV bus fleets, along with bus station, depot and parking rooftop photovoltaic systems. Bala has experience evaluating existing infrastructure and designing solutions that set the stage for immediate upgrades and can expand to meet future transit needs.
Every airport, public or private, is going through an unprecedented time of change. Everything needs to be modernized. Even small executive airports are being tasked with providing the same amenities as terminals serving large national carriers. From HVAC systems, life safety and fire protection through electrical upgrades assisting with decarbonization plans, it's all on the table. Developing a comprehensive approach to managing the upgrades, or commissioning their serviceability, is a transportation specialty of Bala.
Bala provides study and design services including metering and load analysis to determine electrical infrastructure upgrades for additional charging stations, or to maximize EV charging within the constraints of the current infrastructure. Our structural engineering group also provides structural design for gantries supporting EV charging locations for larger vehicles, buses, and trucks as well as provides structural analysis of garages to account for the additional weight of the vehicles.
Modernizing and increasing port efficiency, adding new capacity and expanding operations are of critical importance to the operators of marine terminals worldwide. Bala's electrical and technology engineering services are required to create sustainable infrastructure improvements including new substations, communications ductbank systems, sizable power savings and increased terminal resiliency.
