The Green Line Extension project is an initiative of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), which is coordinating project development with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). The project will extend existing MBTA Green Line service from a relocated Lechmere Station through the northwest Boston corridor communities of Cambridge, Somerville, and Medford and terminate at the College Avenue Station in Medford. It is anticipated that this main line extension will add five new stations plus a relocated Lechmere Station.
Bala was the consultant responsible for surveying existing MBTA commuter stations representative of new commuter station MEP/FP design expectations. Bala prepared MEP/FP conceptual designs for three typical commuter stations where public access originates from an elevated roadway, level roadway and depressed roadway conditions and developed initial MEP/FP design guidelines to support further design progress.
In addition, Bala was the consultant responsible for the final MEP/FP design and QA/QC process for the dedicated construction document design consultant team.
