This pharmaceutical company’s new 208,000 square foot office building is the first double platinum building created in Philadelphia. The environmentally friendly building features a café, fitness center, meeting rooms, multipurpose areas, a rooftop garden, bank and a help desk.
The building is designed with high efficiency plumbing fixtures that reduce water consumption by 50%, saving roughly 1.8 million gallons of water and the ventilation system provides 30% more fresh air than required by code. The roof is covered in 40% vegetation, including an herb garden. This feature helps to reduce energy costs by providing natural insulation, absorption of storm water and providing employees with an environmentally friendly workspace.
Bala’s Independent Commissioning Group performed LEED Commissioning services for the project, which achieved both LEED-CI Platinum and LEED-CS Platinum Certification.
