This full-service civil engineering firm constructed their new headquarters within 1818 Market Street. The office space includes an impressive open work environment, community spaces and a monumental stair designed by our Structures Group.
The monumental stair connects the reception area to the community hub below and features a dramatic wood ceiling directly above the stair. Other features around the stair include seating, privacy and connectivity options and multiple beverage service points.
Our Structural Group worked closely with the architectural team to balance the functionality and form of the monumental stair. The first challenge of this project was the removal of an area of the exiting converts waffle slab. Bala provided direction on the intricacies associated with this floor system and designed steel beams to frame out the new floor opening. With the goal of producing an efficient yet artistic element, Bala created several design options for the stair.
