As part of their Campus Master Plan, Princeton University is developing a new graduate student housing complex on their new Lake Campus. The new housing complex is expected to consist of multiple, three-story buildings and will house approximately 550 graduate students.

The facility will be highly sustainable with all-electric systems instead of relying on fossil fuels, and is expected to achieve Passive House Certification. Passive House is an energy efficient building standard that reduced the building's footprint by re-using free heat to heat the occupied spaces.  The systems will use a low temperature hot water distribution system. It utilizes continuous insulation without thermal bridging, requires an extremely airtight envelope and high performance glazing. Passive House strives for an energy reduction of 40% to 60% over ASHRAE 90.1.2010.
