Looking to reduce the rising cost of rent in their current office and to be closer to the communities they fight for, this criminal justice reform non-profit relocated their headquarters from the Woolworth Building in New York City to Industry City in Brooklyn. Bala was chosen to perform the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services for the newly renovated headquarters.
Vera now occupies 35,000 square feet on the second and third floors of Building 4 in the Sunset Park Brooklyn warehouse complex. The program includes a café and diverse work space options and meeting spaces.
Bala’s scope of engineering services includes a lease review, an existing system conditions assessment and evaluation of the HVAC system options. The mechanical infrastructure was designed to compliment the industrial open ceiling concept and workstation areas. We also designed convenient AV power, the full fire protection system and plumbing to the new restrooms and pantry areas.
